I have some thoughts on the proposed revisions of the licensing regulations as they apply to OSR centers. it seems to me that providers against the guidelines are saying that parents should be communicating their disapproval in regards to lowering ratios because of the cost factor. In my opinion, though, the ones actually providing the care -- the classroom teachers, caregivers, aides, whatever -- are the ones who should voice the loudest opinions. I hear students weekly say they would do anything to have smaller group sizes and they name large group sizes as the greatest detriment to quality care (according to them). I believe what the caregivers are telling me, that smaller group sizes and lower ratios do make a positive difference. Any ideas for how to get the caregivers' message out?
