PARTNERS IN QUALITY
A Mentor Program Facilitating Professional Growth and Career Development
Attention Mentor Teachers and Administrators!
Important news about the Georgia Head Start State Conference follows:
Let Us Know If You Are Coming
There are number of events planned for Mentors at the Head Start State Conference to be held at St. Simon’s Island May 16 – 18, 2000. Please let me know by April 15th if you are planning to attend so we can include you in on the festivities. Information regarding specific dates and times will follow as soon as we receive it from the Conference organizers.
Recognition for PARTNERS IN QUALITY Mentors
All Mentors will stand out during the conference when they wear purple Mentor ribbons and PARTNERS IN QUALITY pins. The ribbons and pins can be picked up at the Mentor Exhibit Booth. By standing out, mentors will be recognized for their accomplishments as well as be easily identified by conference participants who might be interested in asking them questions about the Mentor Program.
Sessions Hostesses
We have been given the opportunity to serve as hostesses during some of the conference sessions and at the opening ceremony. The responsibility of the hostess is to assist the presenters during the session. Some duties may be to pass out handouts and collect evaluations. Serving as a hostess will make Mentors visible to conference participants and provide more opportunities to talk about mentoring.
Mentor Learning Project Exhibit
To foster a broader understanding of the PARTNERS IN QUALITY Mentor Program and the many ways in which Mentors support quality programs for children, there will be a Mentor Project display in the Exhibit Hall. During the Exhibit Hall hours, we are asking that all Mentors take a turn working at the display to answer questions about the PARTNERS IN QUALITY Mentor Program and share their personal experience as a Mentor.
Session - Mentor Teacher Programs That Work
As a Mentor Teacher, you can take a lead during this session as several models for implementing mentoring are examined. You can provide living examples of how the program works, challenges you might have faced, and what your experiences have been supporting your colleagues in providing quality programs for children.
